Our Story

Our story was truly love at first sight, well, more like love at first talk. Layne used to order take out from the Italian restaurant I worked at. The first time I took his order I was intrigued by his sultry deep voice. When Fernando, our delivery driver returned from dropping off his food, I asked him what Layne looked like. Of course, he looked at me like I was crazy, shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know." I pressed on and asked if he was tall, short, young, old (I just needed a few descriptions to invision a person to go with that voice...he was of no help). Anyway, after Layne ordered a few more times, I took matter into my own hands and sent him a piece of dessert. Just like a true gentleman, he called to thank me for the nice surprise. I knew at that moment I needed to meet him. And just as my wish was made, it was granted. This time instead of having a delivery, he showed up in person. I'll never forget what he was wearing, a red shirt, white shorts and a baseball cap. He looked casual but polished and I thought he was so handsome. As soon as we met face to face, I felt we had a real chemistry. We small talked as he waited for his Wendy's blackened chicken (add broccoli) and small house salad with ranch. He was always so polite and even tipped us for his food. Of course, dessert was always thrown in just for good measure...like they say, a way to a man's heart is through his stomach, right!? So, after courting him for a few months, he finally got the courage to ask me out. Unfortunately, at that time I was dating someone else, and, as he puts it, I shot him down. However, I was so freaked out when he asked me that I ran into the kitchen and hid until he left. Soon after, I made the decision to dump my zero and get with a hero. When all was said and done, I knew no matter how many desserts I threw in the bag, Layne would never ask me out again and I would have to do something drastic. From that point on, whenever he called for a pick-up, the whole restaurant was on high alert...only I was to handle his order and of course pre-warn me so I could make a bee line towards the restroom and freshen up! I couldn't risk him seeing me at less than my best if ever I got the courage to ask him out. This little game lasted a few more months till I couldn't take it anymore. He came in, looking cute as ever, and I just blurted out "when are you going to take me out for my birthday dinner?" He said he would love to take me out and gave me his number but I chickened out and didn't call him...I'm batting zero at this point. A few more weeks go by and when I was alerted my good friend Vivianne that he was on his way I told her to make some kind of comment about taking me out....just to break the ice. She came through for me and when she said it he said he would love to but she never called. So she wrote my number down and gave it to him. He called me the next day, we went to Tony's Taverna in Malibu, had the perfect first date, and we were pretty much inseperable until he moved to Minnesota. By that point, he already asked to move with him and without blinking an eye, I said yes. So here we are, happy and making it official Sept. 4th!

Our Wedding

Our wedding will take place in California since most of our family and friends are there. It will be at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills, a restaurant, that combines the rustic beauty of an old Tuscan villa and the romance of a French cottage. The word "cielo" means sky in Italian, and that is literally where we will be exchanging our vows, under the sky. The restaurant has retractable ceilings which allow us to be indoors while still basquing in the starlight. It is intimate and quaint, just perfect for the day I envisioned marrying my soulmate.
The wedding will begin at 5 pm on Sept. 4th. Champagne and cocktails will be served as our guests arrive and dinner will follow the ceremony. This is a semi-formal wedding and due to the small capacity, children unfortunately are not allowed. However, we look forward to sharing this day will all of our friends and family. This truly is a dream come true for both of us.
For all of our out-of-town guests and wedding party, we have blocked some rooms at the Four Seasons, which is across the street form Il Cielo, however, there all other hotels available. I will provide a list of accomadations with the invitation, for your convience.
Again, we look forward to seeing everyone in September to celebrate this joyous occasion!
Love,
Allison and Layne
