Welcome

We were engaged on Thanksgiving.  This was a fitting day to show that we are thankful that God has put us together.   We are planning a wedding for the end of January.  We ask you to pray that our marriage will be pleasing to Him and that He will use our union to be a blessing to others.  We plan to post parts of our journey here.  Please feel free to drop by anytime.

Thanks Shanida and David

Our story is a story of twist and turns, but the hand of God is evident at every milestone and around every curve.

Shanida was a banking professional in Panama City, Panama.  Her life was abruptly changed by a car accident that took her husbands life and leaving her to raise two children on her own.   Afterwards she moved to Huntsville Alabama  to be closer to her mom and brothers.  Shanida went to work at a mortgage company in Huntsville, where a lifelong friend of David's was employed.

David was a Fire/medic in Anniston Alabama.  After twenty years of service he retired from the Anniston Fire Department, and answered God's call to the mission field in Haiti. He worked at a school and orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti.

David's friend and coworker of Shanida (we will call him Ted) came to Haiti on a mission trip.  He did not know that David had been praying for some months that God would send him the perfect partner to share his life with.  That God would send a lady with the same goals, dreams, and love for Jesus.  Ted mentioned to David about Shanida, and suggested that he get in touch with her just to talk.  David contacted Shanida on Facebook and the conservation began.  A conversation of hope, a conversation of love, a conversation that exalts God and makes Him the center of their relationship.  From the first time they talked, David new Shanida was the one God had chosen for him.  After talking for a while, David asked Shanida to be his girlfriend and Shanida said yes. David came home from Haiti in October, and they were engaged on Thanksgiving day.

Shanida had to leave Panama and come to Alabama, and David had to leave Alabama and go to Haiti for God to put them together.  These are only a small sample of the twist and turns they traversed.  It has been said that God works in mysterious ways, and the meeting of this couple proves it.  David and Shanida praise The Lord for putting them together, and plan to use their marriage to exalt Him.  For more details of how they met plan to return here and read the rest of the story.
