Our Story
"I've met the man I'm going to marry!"
Silence.
"Dad? Hello?"
That was the (kind-of) conversation Mere had with her Dad a week or so after her and Paul's first date. Perhaps it's cliche', but Mere and Paul both felt that they'd found "the one" about halfway through date #1. Unfortunately, this didn't please some folks in downtown Hyde Park; Mere and Paul shared their first kiss on the street outside of The Wine Exchange prompting a "get a room!" comment from a woman nearby. As they do a lot, Mere and Paul simply looked at one another and started laughing hysterically!
The love story started before either one of them knew it was happening. Paul and Meredyth met at a "game night" get-together coordinated by mutual friends. During the monthly get-togethers they'd share stories - and joke about - being band nerds in school ... and often they'd be the only ones in the crowd laughing over a dorky comment the other made. They went on their first date about a year after they met ... and have been inseparable since!
The Engagement:
In December, '08 while in Orlando for the Emmy Awards Paul took Mere to visit the town of Winter Park. He knew she'd love the New England-style streets lined with boutiques, restaurants and hidden courtyards. Two months later the couple returned on a surprise trip coordinated by Paul under the guise of a post-Valentines Day celebration. They walked to a courtyard Mere had fallen in love with on their previous visit; coincidentally the courtyard was empty. They sat on a bench overlooking a fountain and Paul handed Mere her Valentine's Day gift which she immediately recognized as the photo album she'd given him for Christmas. It was titled "The story of us" and was filled with pictures and captions and ended with a note card that read "...to be continued." At Paul's insistence Mere flipped to the last page of photos ... snapshots of the courtyard they were sitting in ... with the caption "the day we got engaged - February 20, 2009." Many tears - and two proposals later, as Mere was so surprised the first time around she wanted a do-over! - she said yes!
Our Wedding
After going through a number of wedding options - including plans to be married on the island of Santorini, Greece - Paul & Mere decided to keep things simple ... and will be married in the courtyard where they became engaged during a small ceremony with their families on Wednesday, October 7. In memory of Mere's Mom, Paulette, Mere's wedding ring will be custom made using diamonds from a ring that Mere's Dad, Fox, purchased for Paulette while they were vacationing in Greece many years ago.
Paul & Mere will depart Oct. 8 for a trip to the eastern Mediterranean, making stops in Rome, Sicily, Naples, Athens, Mykonos (Greece), Rhodes (Greece), Santorini (Greece) and Ephesus (Turkey).
Our Reception
We want our reception to be fun and inclusive of EVERYONE! And that's why we're planning to have a "Reception Remix!" on Saturday, November 7 at our home in Wesley Chapel. Come for a few minutes ... or a few hours! We'd love to see you all!
